Summer Reading Program 2026
This Summer's Reading Program and Activities!

This year, our Summer Reading activities include:
June 1: Summer Reading Challenge Launches - This year the library will be holding a reading challenge for both Kids and Adults! Ask staff for details.
June 3, 2:00PM library basement: Leonardo Music - Bring your dancing shoes and best air guitar moves it's time to go ROCKIN' with LEONARDO. He is a Parents' Choice Award winning family musician from Chicago strumming nationwide on his electric orange guitar. He performs a humorous high energy concert that entertains, educates, and empowers all little rockers. Get ready to sing along to familiar hits and some movin' and groovin' original songs!
*All ages welcome, but geared toward the younger ages.
June 8: McReader Program Launch - The McReader Program is back this summer! Kids will receive a punch card, and will get a hole punch every time they read and return a book to the library. Every 10 punches earns a free Happy Meal! Multiple cards can be earned. They must be redeemed at participating McDonald's by September 30.
*All children through age 18 may participate.
June 10, 12:30PM library basement: Story Time and Activity - Mrs. Cook will be leading a story time and activity event.
*All ages welcome.
June 15, 1:00PM library basement: Blaque Berry Puppets - DANIEL ROMANO is a puppeteer, a storyteller, a teacher and a folklorist. He has performed at the International Institute’s Festival of Nations, Fair St. Louis, the Catawba Farm Fest in Virginia and at schools, libraries and centers throughout the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Blaque Berry Puppets, Daniel’s puppet theater, was formed seven years ago and performs traditional folk tales and original stories. He has told Irish legends, tales from the Western Frontier and African-American folk tales with Angata!, a West African Drum and Dance ensemble, for the last 18 years. He teaches art residencies in local schools with Pre-k to Eighth Grade Students for Springboard, a local arts education agency. He has a BA in education with emphasis on early childhood that he earned at Webster University.

June 22, 1:00PM library basement: Mad Science - For 40 years, Mad Science has developed science programs that are kid-tested and approved. From our humble beginnings to the present day, we have always believed that hands-on, fun STEM experiences form the foundation of a lifelong love of science, technology, engineering, and math!
*All ages welcome.
July 1, 2:00 in the library basement: Department of Conservation Presentation and Story Time - An interactive PowerPoint presentation, along with some hands-on audience participation, animals and insects, and a story time as well. It will be a whole conservation festival event!
*All ages welcome to the family-friendly event. Geared toward elementary and older.
July 9, 1:00PM library basement: Story Time and Activity - Mrs. Kothe and Mrs. Pegelow will be leading a story time and activity event. Also, learn more about Parents As Teachers!
*All ages welcome, but geared toward younger ages.
July 15, 1:00 in the library basement: Story Time and Craft - Ms. Dotson will be leading a story time and craft.
*All ages welcome.
July 28, 10:00am-12:00pm at the Pool (or 7/30 rain date): - Our closing event will be at the public pool! Limit one drink and one ice cream provided to participants.
*Family-friendly activity. All ages welcome. Adult or guardian strongly encouraged to stay with kids, but lifeguards will be on duty.
